What is a Flame Guard?
Flame Guards are protective shields for your fire pit that are made out of tempered glass panels. Their main purpose is to protect your firepit’s flames from the wind, which is why they are commonly referred to as “wind shields”. The guards consist of aluminum fire-resistant brackets that hold together the glass panels, and anti-slip rubber pads on the bottom to keep them from moving out of place.
Our Flame Guards come in several different shapes and sizes that all correspond to the size and shape of our fire pit pans and burner covers. We strategically craft our guards to be a few inches larger than its correlating burner because the guards are supposed to be used at least two inches from the end of the pan on all sides.
However, this does not mean that our Flame Guards cannot be used with any random firepit. While shaped for our firepit burners in general, they can fit and look stylish on just about any firepit you wish. While the round-shaped burners come in two different sizes and are eight inches tall, all other shapes have five size options and are six inches tall. However, regardless of shape or size, all flame guards are made from 3/16” of an inch thick tempered glass.

The Many Purposes Of Flame Guards
The most evident purpose of them all: Flame guards are designed to guard flames. The guard is placed on your firepit around the pan or burner area and is designed to specially prevent the wind from dampening your fire on those breezy nights.
Flame guards do not stop at protecting your fire, but they also allow for a small amount of wind to enter the bottom of the fire pit. This causes a reaction in the fire where the wind circulates around the inside of the guard and actually helps the flames rise higher. So not only do flame guards protect your flames, but they even help them blaze stronger. This also actually prevents as much fuel from needing to be used meaning you can burn your flames for a longer amount of time using less gas.
While the guard’s main purpose may be protecting flames from the outside elements, they also protect the outside from the flames. This is to say that the guard blocks both the flames and fire media from anyone near it. There’s much less of a need to worry about children, pets, or anyone being harmed by or harming the fire feature and its media. Guards also do a good job at stopping excessive heat from reaching the rest of the fire pit table. This means that you can place items on the firepit table such as food or drinks, and do not have to worry about the fire melting, overheating, or damaging it.
If there’s still any hesitation in buying a flame guard, they also look great in any yard! They add another layer of aesthetic to your fire feature from the slick glass panels that beautifully reflect the flames at night. There’s no obstruction of view for the fire or media, if anything it makes your fire feature that much nicer. Just see for yourself in these amazing examples.
