Choosing The Right Gas Fire Pit Burner Kit
Have you decided that it is time to build that dream fire pit that you have always wanted? If so, we applaud that decision! Gas fire pits offer endless hours of enjoyment, whether by yourself or with friends and family. It can sometimes be discouraging to go through the effort of getting a wood burning fire pit up and running. Once it’s installed, there’s still hours of work that goes into maintaining, cleaning, and providing fuel for a wood fire pit. That’s not the case with a gas fire pit. The ease of turning a key valve and switching on an ignition system to produce a beautiful flame makes the choice of hanging out at your gas fire pit simple as can be.
You may think that building a gas fire pit is a difficult endeavor, however it can be quite easy! With a gas fire pit burner kit, putting together a new fire pit can be a breeze. However, how do you know which kit is right for you? Let’s look at some options so you can make sure that you choose the right gas fire pit burner kit for you.
Shape and Size
First, you are going to want to figure out the shape and size of your new gas fire pit. What kind of sitting environment is right for your outside area? Are you thinking of a more traditional fire pit that is circular or square so people can sit around it and chat over the flames? Want it to be a little more intimate? Maybe you should consider a long, low table fire pit with a linear burner. This allows people to be a little closer due to the flame being a little lower and potentially smaller. However, this also means that not everyone will be able to converse with each other at the same time as it is more of a long table environment. Once you have decided on the shape and size of your fire pit, it is time to get a bit more technical.
Burner and Gas Line
Now you are going to want to make sure that your burner matches the shape of your new fire pit. The burner is the base of the fire pit kit. Depending on the shape of your gas fire pit, you need to decide on the shape of the burner to match. Long table fire pits should have a linear burner. Round fire pits should have a round burner, while square fire pits can have a square, circle, or H-style burner depending on where you want the flame to be produced.
Once you have the shape of the burner to match your fire pit, now you want to figure out the size. Generally, you can look at the dimensions of the Warming Trends Crossfire burner kits to match the planned dimensions of your fire pit. You want to leave some room between the end of the burner and the edge of the fire pit enclosure so the flame is not right on the fire pit enclosure material. However, you also want to make sure that the burner produces enough BTUs to create a corresponding flame for your gas fire pit. Finally, choose EITHER a natural gas or propane burner kit depending on which kind of fuel you plan on using as fire pit burners are not made to use BOTH natural gas and propane.
Just to sum that up again. Choose your gas fire pit burner kit based on:
- Size
- Shape
- BTUs
- Natural Gas or Propane
